Driving Instructor Training

F.A.Q's

How much does it cost?
This is usually the first question and depends very much on ability, previous experience and whether you want a Trainee Licence or not?
But typically between £1000 - £2000
How much can I expect to earn?
The more you are prepared to work, the more you'll earn.
On current prices for a 35 hour week around £550.00 to about £650.00 once fully qualified when working for a driving school.
This figure can increase if you plan to work on your own, assuming of course you have enough students.
Think of the cost of the entire course as about equivalent to between 2 / 4 weeks of earnings once you're up and running.
What about a job?
The training comes with an automatic job offer & a company car in a climate where job losses and redundancies are commonplace.
We are a long established busy company and need Driving Instructors to help cope with the busy workload.
Where can I get straightforward  information?
The best place to start for Official Info is straight from the from the horse's mouth. DVSA www.gov.uk

How long is the course likely to take?
Another really important question. Test dates from the DVSA are often the determining factor, so expect between 4 months – 6 months before being able to start work. The more time you have and the more committed are, the less time it will take. The first step is the hardest!
Is it for me?
For this Profession, you ideally need:
A love of driving.
An easy going nature.
A concern for road safety.
A love of people.
Whether you have savings, spare cash or a redundancy payout, doesn’t it make sense to invest in your future?

If your Training Establishment is on the DVSA ORDIT (Official Register of Driving Instructor Trainers) Register, they will give you a certificate, or it can be checked on the DVSA website.
We have been on the register throughout it existence since the DVSA introduced standards in 1985. This requires a re-test every two years, an inspection of facilities, a Code of Practice and naturally a cost.

For something so important, why would anyone go anywhere else?
