Part One - The Theory Test

By doing a little research you will find that we are one of the few DVSA (Government), Officially Recommended Driving Instructor Training Establishments (ORDIT).

Even though this can be attempted on your own, the cost of retakes far outweigh the cost of the course, with our first time pass rate.  Not only will YOU save heartache & money, but in the long run the training  provides a good foundation for both Parts 2 & 3.

Visit our Part One page for more information

Part Two - An Advanced Driving Test

This is the fun part and can be a done relatively quickly, as it is about driving ability and displaying what has been learnt at Part 1.
More often than not although there is a huge learning element, it is also the most enjoyable of the three parts,
where all your new found skills can be shown-off.
If you think your driving is better than average, have a love of driving and a concern for road safety, maybe you've come to the right place for you?
Visit our Part Two page for more information.

Part Three - Test of Instructional Techniques

It is no secret that this is where ROYAL excels over most other training establishments, with a pass rate that second to none. Having trained Driving Instructors since 1983 and been on government committees representing the Trainers throughout the country, our experience and expertise should give you the best start possible. As the song says 'Nobody does it Better'!

Whether its your intention to set up your own business or intend to work within a Driving School framework we are happy to train you to the highest standards, always aiming for a first time pass!

The good news is that every year there are approximately 2 million driving tests taken and until driver-less cars become the norm a long time from now,
there is no shortage of students.

Why not book an informal chat over a cup of coffee, to meet us and decide if this is the career choice for YOU.

Visit our Part Three page for more information.

Cost?

You may have heard the saying that 'if you pay peanuts, you’ll get monkeys’. We are Professionals and like to think our prices are fair, without ‘gimmicks’ or the seemingly up front ‘cheap price’ with the long term payback. If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.

Whether you feel you just need a few lessons or a full course, if becoming an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) is your aim, with minimum fuss ROYAL provides a friendly, professional environment to train or work in.

The total cost does vary from person to person depending on previous experience, bad habits and attitude.

You can just pay as you go or save money with our attractive packages at discounted rates,

Why become a driving Instructor?

There are very few careers where YOU can actually decide how much you would like to earn. How much time you would like off? or even how many hours to work on a particular day.
We are very lucky to be in a redundancy proof profession, where there can be no job losses or a hierarchy of managers and bosses.

Everyday more teenagers are reaching the magical age of 17, which enables them to start taking driving lessons, there are currently around 38,000 qualified driving instructors in the UK, which just isn't enough.

It is a totally equal opportunities profession, irrespective of nationality, gender or disability.
In addition it is a job which can be done full or part-time or even for a few months at a time.

From a job satisfaction perspective, there are very few professions that can compare and no Driving Instructor forgets the name of the first non-driver who passes their driving test. (Mine was Aaron Ferran).

It is also a very sociable profession, meeting new people everyday in pleasant circumstances.

What it Means to be ORDIT registered?

It stands for the Official Register of Driving Instructor Training establishments. (ORDIT)
(Official, being the operative word!).
It is regulated by the DVSA, with a ‘Code of Practice’ it gives the customer a guaranteed standard of service and tuition. Non-ORDIT registered schools are not!

Before the start of ORDIT there was the ADITE Register, which was only 'Approved', as appose to being 'Official'. Royal was on the ADITE committee liaising with the government and was instrumental in the creation of ORDIT.

We have long campaigned that all establishments should be ORDIT registered. If they were the ‘pass rate’ would rise and people wouldn’t waste their hard earned money and time, without qualifying.
If you are considering a non-ORDIT training establishment, there are no guarantees or comebacks.

ORDIT registered trainers are qualified and monitored in providing tuition for Driving Instructors.
Why would anyone go to a person NOT qualified to give that tuition?

Duration:
  • This is where you have total control and dependant on what time YOU have available and how fast YOU wish to progress. As each course is done on a one to one basis and tailored to YOU; if you want to start tomorrow, then that is when you'll start!
  • Test dates have a lead time of about 4 weeks and you'll have to have a DBS check to be accepted by the DVSA.
  • Most Trainee Instructors want to get working after passing the Part Two test, about half way through the course.
